The Monpa community of Arunachal Pradesh is renowned for its weaving skills and in Bomdila and Tawang you’ll get ample opportunities to see this reflected in the jewel-bright carpets and shawls up on sale at the craft centres here. If you are lucky you might even be able to pick up items created by Arunachal’s Apatani tribesmen their distinctive hand-woven shawls and jackets make for great souvenirs to take home Also ask around for the beautiful handmade paper created out of the bark of the Daphne Botanica plant found in their jungles. Keep a look out for the colourful masks (on display during the famous mask dances in the festivals in Tawang), agarbatti and leather items. Arrival at Guwahati Airport and drive to Tezpur. On arrival, check in to the hotel, rest of the day free for leisure activity. Stay overnight at hotel.
Early morning drive to Dirang, steeped in scenic beauty, this town is situated in the valley of river Kameng. This place is inhabited by the Monpa tribe. En route visit Tipi Orchid Centre, a glass house with over 7,500 Orchids (blooming season April & May). Stay overnight at the hotel.
Today after breakfast, drive to Tawang (alt 10,000 ft). Road moves along the Dirang river and then the climb starts and reach Sela. This famous Sela pass is 13,700 ft and is snow bound most of the year. You will pass by a small lake called Paradise Lake and Sela Temple at Sela Pass (13700 ft). From Sela it is downhill to Tawangchu River via Jaswantgarh (a memorial for the 1962 war hero). En-route visit Nuranang waterfall. Stay overnight at the hotel.
After breakfast, proceed for Tawang sightseeing including Tawang Monastery (400 yrs old with 500 resident monks and center of Mahayana Buddhism), Tawang Memorial, Ani Gompa, Crafts Emporium etc. Stay overnight at Tawang.
After breakfast, drive to Bomdila. Later in the afternoon (if time permits) visit the Buddhist Monastery (a repository of culture) and the local market. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Today after early breakfast, we drive back to Tezpur and on arrival check-in to the hotel. Spend the day at leisure. Overnight stay in hotel.
After breakfast, in time transfer to Guwahati Airport to board flight for onward destination.
