Most people associate small and medieval Pushkar with the fabulous cultural carnival created out of one of India’s biggest cattle fairs, in the state of Rajasthan. Yet some of the most wondrous memories you will take back with you is of the music of the temple bells the bhajans playing over the great crowds in the bazaars the strains of trance music as you return home from a late dinners the rhythmic chanting of the priests  at the Brahma temple, backpackers dozing on the ghats with their musical instruments nearby and if you are lucky you might even come upon world-renowned nagara player Nathu Lal Solanki, holding an impromptu concert by the ghats for a spellbound audience which grows by the minute. Now Pushkar also hosts The Sacred, a glorious feast of classical Indian music, which also features artists from other parts of the world, around the time of the Mela.
